What distinguishes the Scottish Knights Templar cross from that of its English counterpart is the design of the red cross itself which based more on the Maltese Cross design. It is also sometimes depicted with eight points.

It is to a large degree the Malta and the Knights of St John influence which really comes to bear in the Scottish depiction.

Gold Scottish Knight Tempar rings feature a red Maltese cross on a white background, and are available in both fixed head and reversible (commonly known as “swivel”) variations.

Welcome to knightstemplarring.net which you will find a wonderful resource if you are researching Knights Templar rings or if you are looking to buy a Knights Templar ring either for yourself or as a gift.

Watch on YouTube

The first decision you need make is: Would I prefer a fixed head or reversible masons ring?

Fixed head rings are usually a little cheaper and can and should be worn with pride at the Lodge and on parades etc. Many masons find this a great way to go.

The other option is to choose a reversible or “swivel” head where the entire top revolves to reveal a plain gold area which can either be engraved or simply left “as is”. Many freemasons prefer this more discrete route and the “secret” nature of the swivel seems to appeal. Of course, changing from plain to masonic head takes literally only a second. (take a look at the mini-video above to see some examples)

Knights Templar rings make a wonderful addition to the standard jewels, aprons and regalia -- and any mason would be proud to wear one. Indeed, on many occasions these make ideal presentations, eg for installations.

If you are serious about purchasing a gold Knights Templar ring I really recommend that you take a look at masonic-jewellery.co.uk where uniquely, you will be able to view each ring on a mini video like the one above and really be able to judge the quality and weight of each product before you buy. I haven’t seen this feature on any other website and really, this is an expensive investment, so you absolutely should have confidence when you buy an item like this that what you see is really what you get!

Founded in 1118 by Hugo de Payens and Godfrey de St. Omar, the Order of the Knights of the Temple of Jerusalem is the starting point for what we now refer to as the Knights Templar (KT).

These two men had King Baldwin I of Jerusalem allow them to congregate in the Royal Palace and their Emblem ultimately came to be a Red Cross on a white background – based on the English flag.

This is why these particular masonic rings are often referred to as English Knights Templar rings.

King Richard (the Lionheart) of England learned the Crusaders had lost Jerusalem to the Saracen leader Saladin and decided to take up the cross of the crusades, hence the connection between the English flag and the Knights.
